The Do’s

The following practices will help maintain the life and quality of the vinyl film:

  • Store your vehicle in a 70-degree heated area for 24 hours after the vinyl film has been applied. Longer for lower temperatures.
  • Wash vinyl graphics or color change film regularly. (we like to use Meguiar’s Gold Class soap)
  • Once washed and rinsed with clean water, dry the vehicle with a microfiber cloth.
  • Graphics or color change film with a gloss finish should be waxed every few months to maintain sheen. Use synthetic waxes only! Ask us about after-care products for matte and satin films.

The Don’ts

Indications of vinyl film failure can include loss of gloss level, fading, embrittling, cracking, chipping and or peeling around graphic edges. The following practices will help avoid accelerated deteriorations of the vinyl film.

  • Do not wash or wax vehicles for at least 48 hours after film has been installed.
  • Do not allow fuels to stay in contact with the vinyl for extended periods of time. Clean all spills as soon as possible.
  • Do not use automated car washes, truck washes with brushes.
  • Do not use caustic cleaners
  • Don’t park under trees to avoid tree sap and bird droppings that can permanently stain the film.

Use of an automated car wash with brushes or damage from cleaning with a pressure washer will void your warranty. See the accompanying Warranty Information document.

Proper Care for Perforated Window Graphics

It is relatively inexpensive to replace perforated window film. Never compromise safety and Always ensure maximum visibility.

  • Avoid using the rear window wipers, they will scratch the ink and laminate over time. Consistent scratching will reduce visibility. It is best to clean any grime and sediment from your rear window with a microfiber and foam window cleaner (avoid using cleaners with ammonia).
  • Avoid using your rear defroster, use only when absolutely necessary as it can potentially reduce the lifespan of the perforated vinyl.
  • Do not use an ice scraper on any window that is covered with vinyl, specially perforated vinyl, as it could scratch and damage the film.
